Uncertainty

I'm keeping this blog short today. I thought of putting up some funny pictures to lighten the mood of readers who may be concerned with world events, but instead decided to think on this:

For God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline. (2 Tim 1:7, ASV)

(Something Jessica said a few days ago reminded me of this verse).

Remember that God is in Control. This world is transient. The earliest apostles: Peter, James, John, Paul, and multiple others, acted as if what happened to them was virtually irrelevant: nothing could stop them as they proclaimed Christ. Many claimed to have seen the risen Jesus -- this experience apparently gave them so much courage that, as the author of the book of Hebrews describes,

[Christians] suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated— of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. (Hebrews 11:36-38, ESV).

Imagine that!

We know the ultimate ending. Have faith. Ask God to supply your needs, hang in there, and trust Him.

Thanks for the reminder, Amy!

It's always good to put things in perspective and remember that He who is in us is greater than He who is in the world.
