Hard Landings

You may have already seen these, but they are darn impressive! Just ponder on your next commute home :-)

Tioman Island, off the coast of Malaysia

Wake Island, Pacific Ocean

Macao International Airport

Kuujjuaraapik , Quebec

A rock off the coast of Greenwood (Canadian Military Labrador Helicopter)

This photo was taken by a soldier in Afghanistan of a helo rescue mission who landed the back half on the roof top of a shack, on a steep mountain cliff, and held it there while soldiers loaded wounded men. The pilot is a PA National Guard guy who flies EMS choppers in civilian life.

Wow. Those last photos show some serious piloting skills.

Wow...pretty amazing. Hats off to pilots who have to deal with those places. Besides the danger, those landings look like they'd be exciting as a passenger!

OMG. I would have a stroke if that was my landing site (on any of the pictures.) But then again, I don't travel well. **smile**

Great pictures.

Macao airport looks tiny. I thought that was a big city.

dnarks, sadly I don't have direct knowledge -- just am passing on the captions I saw below the pix. I guess you can think of it that SOMEWHERE this landing strip exists (provided the photo hasn't been doctored :-)
